My company has been given a user account name so that we may be able to update the content of our website via FTP. How do I change the password for this account?
Our company has a firewall installed; will this protect us from viruses as well?

There are two ways you can pay for your account:
1. Credit Card

We accept VISA, American Express and Master Card. Your card may be automatically billed every month, or you may pay in advance.

2. Cheque or Money Order

Your account is not activated until we receive the wire transfer or the cheque clears and the funds are in our account. Postal and bank processing delays can cause interruptions of service to your web site. To avoid bank delays, pay by Money Order, or have your home branch certify your cheque. Accounts paid by cheque or money order must be paid at least three months in advance.

If you have problems or questions, our sales department can be reached from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm EST.

You can go through the signup process and select "Cheque/Money Order" as your method of payment, then print out the order form with payment information and fax it back to (905) 790-3226. Please make sure it is signed and if you are paying by cheque, please make sure the cheque is sent to us.

Our company has a firewall installed; will this protect us from viruses as well?
First of all, let’s discuss what a firewall is.

A firewall is typically a device (or even software on a computer) that isolates your company’s computer or computers from the internet. The firewall is setup to allow traffic internally to go out to the internet, but prevent anyone on the internet from connecting to machines inside your company. By doing this, the firewall essentially protects your computer(s) from malicious attacks from the outside world.
So will this protect me from viruses? In some part yes, but most viruses today travel around via email, or any other file sharing software (morphious, kaza, yahoo etc.). Depending on your firewall, this type of communication is allowed, unless you specifically block it, so with this said, you are still vulnerable to attack.

Depending on the virus, once one machine is infected, infecting other machines on your network is rather easy. Before you know it, most of your machines are infected, and possibly disabling your whole network, or parts of it.

You should always use a combination of a firewall and virus protection software such as Norton’s or McCafee Anti virus. Once you have your anti virus program installed, it is very important to do regular updates to the virus definitions and to perform at least weekly scans on your computer.

One last note on viruses. One of the more popular types of viruses are sent via email disguising themselves as patches from reputable companies. Most companies (Including Ontrel Technologies) will NOT send out patches to you directly. If you receive e-mail with an attachment and do not know the person sending it to you. DELETE IT. Odds are it is a virus. Also most popular e-mail programs allow you to pre-view the email once you select it. With this type of setting, once you select an e-mail with a virus attached, the virus can automatically launch itself, infecting your machine. Our advice is to turn off any preview settings as well in your e-mail client.
